When I heard that the chef that first put The White Rabbit on the map had ventured out to set up his own restaurant, it immediately became a priority for me to check it out.
Stopping by on a recent thursday afternoon with a couple of buddies, I felt it was completely worth the walk up Harding Road and all the way round past PS Cafe, and upwards still. We were welcome in to the very comfortable restaurant by manager Shireen, who made sure to make us feel welcome despite the fact it was coming up to their cut off time for last lunch orders.
Chef/Owner Daniel Sia’s menu was split into Small Bites and Large Bites (for sharing), we were at a lost as to what to order. So we gave Shireen the task of recommending their best dishes and boy were we happy we did that.
Cliche as it may sound, the Crab Cakes were crispy on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside, the Ribs were well crusted to perfection on the outside and still succulent on the inside. The Bone Marrow was heavenly in it’s own right with homemade bread and it was all I could do to stop myself from literally licking the uber cool charcoal black plates clean. Then we had giant Scallops, Escargot with more of that awesome homemade bread and their famous Meatballs!
Too good, too full, too satisfied. Really didn’t feel like going back to work afterward.
The Disgruntled Chef is a little hard to get to on foot but anyone familiar with Dempsey should be used to that already. Parking is available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Look out for the huge granite sign and follow the concrete path downward towards the restaurant.
