Come 20 October 2012, treat yourself to some gourmet fare for a good cause! Think Wagyu Beef Satay, Iberico Pork Belly Bak Kut Teh and Lobster Popiah.
Salivating already? These will be served by some of Singapore’s most well known hawkers, who will be coming together to cook and raise money for Touch Community Services. A non-profit welfare organisation, Touch offers crisis relief and community services to children from low-income families, the elderly, and those with special needs, just to name afew.
Amongst the participating hawkers are: Tian Tian Chicken Rice, Hock Lam Beef, The Prata Place, Kitchen Language, Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, Geylang Lorong 29 Fried Hokkien Mee, Fatty Cheong, City Satay and Kway Guan Huat. One-stop catering equipment provider Steward’s Solutions will also be on board to support the event with cutlery, furniture, and mobile kitchen.
General Practitioner Dr Leslie Tay of ieatishootipost.sg, the co-organiser of this event remarked, “Why is it we are able to pay $15 for ramen, but we are not happy to pay the same amount for a very good bowl of beef noodles…?”. Costing between $10 and $15 per portions, proceeds from the dishes sold will go towards a target of $150,000 over the 5-hour event, where most of the ingredients have been sponsored by local suppliers with the likes of Angliss, who will be providing items including premium Pork Ribs and Iberico Pork Belly.
Ultimate Hawker Fest will take place at the open-air atrium and carpark area outside Millenia Walk on 20 October 2012, from 5pm to 10pm. Coupons, in sets of $50 can be purchased at the Service Desk at Millenia Walk on level 1, via www.touch.org.sg/UltimateHawkerFest2012, or onsite on the day itself.
